XANTHOS: 46 km from Fethiye. Xanthos, located near the village of Kınık, was the largest administrative center of Lycia in Antiquity. B.C. The city, which was independent until it came under the domination of the Persians in 545, completely burned down about a century later. After this fire, the city was rebuilt, even BC. II. It has undertaken the task of being the capital of the Lycian League in the 16th century. The city, which later came under the control of the Romans, came under Byzantine rule after that and remained under Byzantine rule until the Arab raids in the 7th century. This center, which shows the effects of Lycian traditions, Hellenistic and Roman periods in the structures built by every settled civilization, was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1988.

LETOON: 4 km from Xanthos. away, Letoon was the religious center of Lycia in Antiquity. In this sanctuary, there are the temples of Leto, Apollo and Artemis, as well as the ruins of a monastery, a fountain and the Roman Theater. The largest temple dedicated to Leto, the mother of Artemis and Apollo, is the Leto Temple in the west, built in the peripteros style, and measures 30.25 m by 15.75 m. size. The temple of Apollo, built in the Doric style in the east, is less preserved than the temple of Leto and is 27.90 m by 15.07 m. smaller in size. The temple of Artemis, which is the smallest temple and located in the middle of both temples, is 18.20 m by 8.70 m. in size. Letoon, together with Xanthos, is on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
